Can you hear me now?
For inter cert and leaving cert music, we used to do ear tests. One of the tests used to involve them playing two beeps of different frequencies one after another and you had to say if the second was higher or lower than the first.
At the weekend we set up our Lidl digital satellite TV receiver. It comes with a gadget with an earpiece that you plug into the dish. It then whistles through the earpiece and the pitch of the whistle gets higher as the signal is better, and so helps you point the dish in the right direction. It didn't take me long to find the Astra 2 satellite cluster.
Who'd have thought that all my ear tests would pay off in such a practical manner?
